“Without music life would be a mistake” Friedrich Nietzsche
Performing live with a full-size symphony orchestra is a unique experience, and it’s not something that many young musicians get the chance to do. The SSO offers playing opportunities to students and pupils at schools and colleges around Sussex. If you’re at least Grade 8 standard and are interested in joining us, find out more about more here.
The Sussex Symphony Orchestra regularly run music workshops around the county. Everyone’s welcome, from toddlers to the retired. You can talk to the musicians, have a go at conducting, try out an instrument or even play along with us.
You don’t have to be a musician or music student to get involved with the SSO. We offer young people in Sussex the chance to gain experience and develop skills in a whole variety of areas including…
- Sound engineering and music recording
- Arts administration
- Publicity and marketing
The Sussex Symphony Orchestra are always looking for new ways to develop our education programme so if you have your own ideas, or talents that you’d like to share, please contact us. We’re always happy to hear from you.
